Biography

Steven E. Mach is a partner at Burger, Meyer & D’Angelo, LLP. Mr. Mach’s practice centers on high-exposure catastrophic injury defense, with particular emphasis on transportation matters, commercial fleet liability, and products litigation. Prior to joining Burger, Meyer & D’Angelo, LLP, he represented automotive manufacturers in products liability and commercial disputes across multiple jurisdictions—experience that shapes how he approaches every case today. He understands what clients need from defense counsel: early case assessment that identifies genuine risk, disciplined fact development that controls the technical record, and strategic guidance that accounts for operational realities and brand considerations alongside legal exposure.

Mr. Mach works with in-house teams, carriers, and risk-management professionals to address not just individual cases but the patterns those cases reveal. That means developing consistent assessment protocols, coordinating expert development across related matters, and identifying where litigation processes create unnecessary cost or exposure. The unifying thread is operational discipline: separating provable claims from noise early, controlling technical narratives before they calcify, and providing strategic counsel that aligns litigation strategy with business impact rather than abstraction.

Mr. Mach’s dedication and expertise have been recognized in the Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch and Super Lawyers: Upstate New York Rising Stars publications annually since 2021. Mr. Mach is a graduate of Virginia Tech and Albany Law School, magna cum laude. He is admitted in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey.

When he is not practicing law, Mr. Mach enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter.
