Michael A. Lange has been defending large corporations since graduating from the University of Miami School of Law in 2011. He is licensed in both Florida and California and has handled a diverse range of high-exposure cases involving catastrophic injury, sexual assault, paralysis, and death in both federal and state courts.
Mr. Lange’s practice includes significant maritime experience, including the defense of corporate clients and shipowners in passenger, crewmember, and shore excursion claims. He has defended against traditional maritime personal injury claims as well as novel and emerging theories of liability, including claims involving alleged COVID-19 exposure and contraction. His experience also includes defending high-exposure claims involving alcohol service, shipboard incidents, shoreside excursions, and other sensitive maritime matters. In addition to litigating in Florida and California, Mr. Lange has experience arbitrating in the United States and in foreign venues, including Bermuda and the Bahamas. He also regularly provides real-time advice to corporate clients facing sensitive, high-exposure incidents and has been called upon to conduct investigations and manage matters requiring discretion and sound judgment.
Outside of his practice, Mr. Lange enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and golden retriever, Scupper. He can often be found spending time on the water, surfing, and sailing. As the first person in his family born in America, he brings a personal understanding of cultural differences to his work and relationships. His family immigrated from the port city of Odessa, Ukraine, where he still has roots. He speaks Russian and is working toward fluency in Spanish.
