Carla S. Courtney has over 20 years of extensive litigation experience in both State and Federal Court. Her practice has focused on Insurance Defense, Gig, Personal Injury and Construction Law.
Licensed as an attorney in both Texas and Louisiana, she has amassed considerable experience in serving the needs of her clients, for each case. Her natural ability to adapt and pivot when presented with unique and/or complicated issues, has served her well in all of the first chair bench and jury trials she has tried. Ms. Courtney brings to the firm an impressive legal history of hard work and dedication to understanding each case and finding creative and successful approaches to addressing the facts and issues presented by each case. Her work ethic and professionalism have garnered the respect and admiration of her colleagues, resulting in often being asked to serve as a guest speaker on legal ethics and professionalism.
Ms. Courtney graduated from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University as a Merit Scholar with superior ranking in trial advocacy, appellate advocacy and legal writing. During law school, she served on the Mock Trial Board, as the President of the International Law Society, Vice-President of the Black Law Students Association and Captain of the Phillip C. Jessup International Moot Court Team, the latter of which was the regional champion under her leadership. She has received numerous legal and community-based awards and accolades for her unwavering dedication to the legal profession and her community as a whole.
When not engaged in the practice of law, Ms. Courtney enjoys hiking, traveling, learning new cultures and languages, interior decorating/antiquing and wearing her dogs out at the dog park. She remains extremely involved in her community through serving as a reading mentor to elementary aged children, volunteering at local soup kitchens and food pantries, and organizing holiday events for those who may be in need in the Baton Rouge, LA and Houston, TX areas.
